Robert C. G. Martin, II, M.D.

Assistant Professor of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology

Dr. Martin is a faculty member of the University of Louisville James Graham Brown Cancer Center as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Martin received his M.D. from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and his B.S. from Georgetown University in Mathematics. Dr. Martin joined the staff at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center after completing a two year surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Martin's clinical interests are focused on the multiple disciplinary care and surgical management of patients with upper GI malignancies, including esophageal, gastric, duodenal, liver, biliary, and pancreatic cancers. His research focus is on the genetic predispositions to upper GI malignancies and how they relate to environmental exposure. Dr. Martin hopes to translate his findings on genetic predispositions so as to identify the true high-risk patient population who will develop cancer.
